Cool Park Nature Reserve
Coole is at the centre of a rare and complex wetland system that is considered to be of global importance.
Coole is a vital habitat for wintering wetland birds, especially Whooper Swans. While Bewick's Swans once frequented the area, their numbers have declined recently. The site hosts large populations of Widgeon, Pochard, and Mallard ducks, along with smaller numbers of Tufted Duck, Curlew, Dunlin, and Lapwing. The Common Sandpiper breeds in the wetlands nearby.
